This 704-acre park consists of 8 tennis courts, 10 ball diamonds, 27 hole golf course, 6 picnic areas, 6 play areas (1 new inclusive playground), 19 soccer/football fields, restrooms, concessions, bleachers, and a kid’s interactive fountain. The park also features a nature trail and memorial areas (Worker’s statue, Freedom Shrine, Hosta Garden, Rose Garden with fountain & Veteran’s fountain). The park also boasts a 13-acre fishing lake stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which is adjacent to the Oriental Garden and waterfall/pond. The Northside of Hwy 140 contains 10 soccer/football fields & 25 acres of Heartland Prairie Restoration.

Carillon Concerts at the Nan Elliott Memorial Rose Garden are Sundays at 5:00 p.m. Memorial Day through September. Bring your own chair.

Memorial trees have been planted to landscape the entire park and are still available and may be purchased for $100 through the Park Office.

During the course of our daily operations, the Park and Forestry Departments often grind tree branches and limbs. The mulch is available to the public free of charge. This mulch can be picked up near the Learning Center.

PARK ATTRACTIONS

Nan Elliott Memorial Rose Garden

Dr. Robert Elliott donated the funds for this stunning 1 acre rose garden as a memorial to his wife. This All-America Rose Selections accredited garden contains more than 1600 rose bushes, a gazebo, and a carillon. The Garden is located on the south side of the park.

Oriental Garden
The funds for this Garden were donated by Alton area doctors. The Garden is located on the south side of the Park with a walkway over the bridge that goes around the pond and past a waterfall and the Pagoda. Colorful Koi fish make the pond their home.

Nature Trail
This 1/4 mile handicapped accessible nature trail starts and ends near the Oriental Garden on the south side of the Park. There are approximately 50 different trees and shrubs grouped in areas including native trees, deciduous trees, conifers, and shrubs.

Spencer T. Olin Golf Course
Designed and managed by Arnold Palmer, Spencer T. Olin Golf Course is recognized as one of the finest public golf facilities in the midwest with a 4 1/2 Star rating by Golf Digest magazine. These 18 hole, par 72 courses are designed to accommodate all levels of play, with an additional 9 hole Learning Center. Carts and lessons are available. A restaurant on the premises. Visiting Gordon Moore Park
Hours: Daylight to Dusk or end of scheduled activities.

There is no charge to visit Gordon Moore Park.

Gordon Moore Park is located on College Avenue (IL-140 & IL-111) east of the interchange with IL-3. at 4550 College Avenue. From the Clark Bridge in downtown Alton, take E. Broadway to Washington Avenue. Take Washington Avenue north to College Avenue. Turn right on College Avenue and east to Gordon Moore Park.

From IL-3 North: Exit at the College Avenue (Il-140/IL-111) exit and travel east to Gordon Moore Park.
