The City of Alton’s Information Technology Department provides technology services to all City Departments. The Department works to facilitate more efficient and economical operations within and among the departments by implementing computerized systems to provide City Services.
Information Technology responsibilities include supporting the software used for the supporting record systems for offices, support of the City’s LAN, WAN networks; support of city networked services such as the Internet, E-Mail, and Web Services. We also troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade the City’s computers, networks, and software applications. We currently support over 200 computers, servers, laptops, and mobile data terminals all throughout the City of Alton.
The IT Department’s mission is to provide prompt, professional, and courteous technological support to all city departments. We will recommend and deploy technology-based solutions that will enhance the city staff, officials, and employees to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Alton.
