ALTON MUNICIPAL BAND COVID-19 STATEMENT
The health and safety of our audience, musicians, staff and community is a top priority of the Alton Municipal Band as long as COVID-19 is a health safety concern. REHEARSALS are being held in the Ringhausen music building band room at Lewis and Clark Community College. A musician’s mask, bell cover and puppy pad to catch spit are required of everyone attending rehearsals. Supplies are available for those who forget along with hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. Musicians are required to properly mask instruments during outdoor performances at parks to reduce the aerosol spread during play. Additional masking is encouraged for players that are non-vaccinated. All audience members are encouraged to follow the state and city COVID health and safety guidelines.
The full Alton Municipal Band performs on Thursdays in the gazebo at Riverview Park at 8pm and on Sundays near the Lucy Playhouse in Haskell Park at 7pm. Now in its 131st consecutive season of summer concerts, we welcome and encourage the community to visit the parks for some quality outdoor time with family and friends. The large footpad of the parks allows for distancing, so bring a lawn chair and enjoy listening to some of the best music around. The season will feature guest soloists performing outside with the entire band, the traditional kiddie march for children through the park, and smaller ensembles at various locations around Alton, including the Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.
BOARD MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS
The City of Alton greatly appreciates the expertise and professionalism of its public members who serve on the Alton Municipal Band Board and volunteer time to support the city band. Board members are volunteers who participate in meetings and provide help, advice, and guidance to the organization. Volunteers help with promotions, performances, and networking in the community. Volunteering is a great way for band members and area residents to get involved and make a difference. Submit your volunteer contact information or board nominations to email@example.com.
